It is located in central Dalmatia and in between the cities Split and Makarska and opposite the island Brač. It lies right at the mouth of Cetina River, which flows to into the Adriatic Sea. It is surrounded by plains of Omišská Dinara, Komorjak, Babnjača and it´s highest peak the Mosor hill. Omiš has various beautiful beaches both by the sea and by the river. From one side of the Cetina river, right by the sea coas, you ca find great number of pebbly beaches such as Brzet and Ravnice. On the other side you will see numerous sand beaches like the Omiš city beach, Glavica, Glavica II. or Golubinka – Duće. Thanks to its advantageous location, Omiš offers a large number of different nature activities, from swimming, rowing, diving, rafting, zipline, sailing to climbing, hiking or even flying.

The city itself has very exiting history, mainly because by the 12th and 13th century the city was occupied by pirates. And because of them you can find two fortresses in here. One is right in the city center which called Mirabela and the second one located above the city – Fortica. And both of them have incredible views! The gastronomy of Omiš is mainly associated with sea cuisine although you can also find continental cuisine. And if you come in the right time, you can enjoy the most famous festival of traditional Dalmatian Klapa singing the Festival Dalmatinskih Klapa, which is under the protection of UNESCO and always takes place in Omiš.
